PRIORITIES

THE COST OF LIVING:

Prices are rising fast, and thanks to the Trump Administration, they’re not coming down. The Trump Tariffs are hitting families hard, and the uncertainty that follows is forcing people to change their plans. They’re not purchasing new vehicles or expanding businesses. Trump’s tariffs are even changing how folks shop for groceries. In Congress, I’ll fight for universal childcare, good-paying jobs, and a surge in affordable housing to help our neighbors manage a middle-class life again. And I’ll fight to get Trump’s blanket tariffs lifted so families don’t have to worry about their own government making their lives unaffordable.

MEDICARE FOR ALL:

More often than any other issue, I hear worries about affordable health care. A classmate of mine who lives in Europe is facing serious health issues—but pays nothing for their treatment. How is it that a citizen in the wealthiest country in the world has to choose between food and medicine? It’s time to stop letting insurance companies and pharmaceutical conglomerates decide whether or not we can get the care we need and deserve. It's past time to move towards a Medicare-for-all system that puts people’s health and financial well-being over private profits for health insurance companies and executives. Getting there will be an enormous relief for our neighbors and our medical providers alike.

LABOR:

I am 100% pro-labor. As a former labor union member, I’ll be a steadfast pro-union voice in Congress. That means fighting for workers’ rights through legislation like the PRO Act, defending fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to organize. At the same time, I’ll ensure that trade policies work for Maine families and industries. While removing unnecessary blanket tariffs from the Trump Administration, I’ll support strategically applying tariffs to hold foreign companies and countries accountable for unfair trade practices that harm our homegrown industries. Maine workers built this state—we need a Congress that fights for them.

A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE:

I will always stand up for a woman’s right to make her own health decisions, especially regarding reproductive health and safety. The decision to terminate a pregnancy belongs to the woman faced with whatever circumstances that affect her, and no one should have the right to predetermine what health choices any woman makes. Safe access to reproductive health care should be a constitutional right.

OUR DEMOCRACY:

Our Democracy is under threat. When I was Secretary of State, I sued Trump’s sham voter-fraud commission. I won and got it disbanded. Now, President Trump is trying to attack our Democracy again. He’s urging states with legislative Republican majorities to begin their redistricting process immediately to rig the upcoming mid-term elections. Republicans are also pushing for restrictions on absentee ballots and voter identification requirements—proposals recently defeated by Maine voters. Congress, instead of asserting itself as a coequal branch of government, is wholly complicit in letting Trump govern as an authoritarian. When I’m in Congress, I’ll fight for the rule of law and protect our democracy from these attacks. I beat Trump once as Maine’s Secretary of State. I’ll do it again as a member of Congress.
